Red Cross survey reveals confused public view of refugees

The British Red Cross conducted a “Perceptions of refugees poll” during this year’s Refugee Week celebrations to gauge the public’s views of refugees living in the UK. The survey revealed that on average, people think the UK hosts 24 per cent - almost a quarter - of the world's asylum seekers, which is eight times the actual figure. It also found that most people think refugees are largely low-skilled workers in their country of origin rather than professionals, when in fact the opposite is true. For the poll results in full, see the British Red Cross website.
